Gozo Cathedral

This historic photograph captures the front façade of the Gozo Cathedral within the Citadel, rising above a broad flight of stone steps and dominated by a richly carved main doorway with deep mouldings and a rounded pediment. Strong limestone pilasters divide the façade into bays, while decorative details—such as carved capitals, sculpted shields above the entrance, and the large niche holding a statue of the Virgin Mary—give the building its unmistakable Baroque presence.
